Unbearably Luxurious Hotels in Houston
Texas has been on my travel list for a long time, but as a state that almost deserves to be called a country, Texas can be intimidating. As such, I’ve tried to divide my attention between the major cities that I want to explore: Houston, Austin, Dallas, and Corpus Christi. Today, I’m going to take a look at some of the best attractions and most luxurious accommodations in Houston.
In Uptown: The Post Oak Hilton
Uptown is perfect for shopping enthusiasts since the Galleria can be found here. In addition to offering various activities such as ice skating, the Galleria has what’s arguably the best shopping and dining center in the entire city. Within Uptown, the Hilton Houston – Post Oak is one of the most luxurious places to stay. This pet-friendly hotel features a pool, on-site gym, and valet parking. Every non-first floor room includes a balcony with stunning city views.
In Downtown: The Houston Hilton
Downtown Houston is overflowing with attractions. You can discover oceanic life in the famous Houston Aquarium, catch a baseball game at Minute Maid Park, or attend a performance at Alley Theatre, to name just a few options. During your exploration, one of the best-located hotels is the Hilton Americas – Houston. This hotel features easy convention center access, an on-site pool with equipped saunas and hot tubs, and a full-service spa. The on-site restaurant, Pappasito’s Cantina, offers some of the best Tex-Mex around.
In the Theater District: Hotel ICON
Unsurprisingly, the Theater District is home to many of the best theaters and music venues in all of Texas. The most famous of these are the Bayou Music Center, the Wortham Theater Center, and the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. The Hotel ICON Autograph Collection puts you within walking distance of these attractions and is worth a visit in its own right thanks to its large collection of autographed celebrity photos. The hotel also includes on-site facilities like a restaurant, spa, and fitness center.
In Fourth Ward: The Hyatt
The Fourth Ward is a peculiar district in Houston. Attractions range from the Art Car Museum, where you can see cars that have been used as the canvas for works of modern art, to the Waugh Drive Bat Colony, which is the home to thousands upon thousands of bats. If these sorts of strange attractions suit your fancy, consider staying at the nearby Hyatt Regency Houston. Rooms at the Hyatt include stylish furniture, hypoallergenic bedding, and spacious bathrooms.
In the River Oaks: The St. Regis
The River Oaks district has some of the most classy attractions in Houston. You can spend your time golfing at the River Oaks Country Club, checking out independent and foreign films at the River Oaks Theatre, or exploring classic and contemporary art at the Rienzi. The St. Regis Houston puts you squarely in the River Oaks district and offers luxurious accommodations. Key extras include spacious rooms, a 24-hour concierge desk, an on-site restaurant, and a wine room.
